2015 MEMORABLE BEER LIST---by MIKE

一年最后一天,今年最有印象啤酒清单继续,这次是来自挪威的酿酒师朋友MIKE(虽然他觉得自己已不再像过往那样疯狂追逐啤酒)..
It's the last day of 2015--the memorable beer list would continue to go on well into January of 2016....
Today, the list is from a brewer basing in Norway--Mike Murphy-- in his own words:-
" I don’t get very geeky about beer. I don’t really go around trying them so much as I used to anymore..."

2015 MEMORABLE BEER LIST--by RAYMOND

来自新加坡的朋友RAYMOND以自己的方式记录今年的品酒记。。
and the list continues--this time from a Singapore beer geek friend, instead of a list, Raymond has written in his own style--remembering "beery moments" of 2015....
here's the list in his own words:-(all pics provided by Raymond)
"Firstly, many thanks for sounding me out with the idea of recording the top beers I have enjoyed in 2015.
(Un)fortunately, there have been far too many outstanding beers that I had experienced this past year! Even after weeks of thought and deliberation, I am still stumped to produce any useful list. Therefore, I have decided to compile a general list of BEST beer experiences in 2015, hopefully that can make up for the pathetic indecision that plagues me.
“过去一年喝了不少好酒,实在没办法整理出清单情况下,决定以这样的方式来记录。。。”

1) Doing weird things to beer.
In 2015, some of my beer buddies have started to experiment with different ways of appreciating craft beer. Apart from those who are homebrewers and have incorporated Asian ingredients into their handmade beer (and they are most delicious!), I had the privilege of enjoying self-blended craft beer (for example, an IPA with an amber ale), and pressure infused beer (using an espresso gadget to press lemon oils into a saison or gose).
今年和一些啤迷朋友开始试验不同方式品味,比如自己混合不同啤酒,或利用咖啡机挤压柠檬混入农村风格啤酒或德式酸啤酒。。


2)  Encountering rare beers.
This year was also remarkable for the number of so-called “whales” that were either shared kindly by friends or encountered during my travels. I would have never expected to taste Russian River’s Pliny the Elder, not just once, but TWICE! While it lived up to well-deserved reputation, it was not so much better than the beers that are more easily available. That helped to give me a sense of perspective that we need not always chase after rare beers. Adding to the mix were examples like Brewdog’s Sink the Bismarck and Tactical Nuclear Penguin. While I managed to find End of History, sadly it was not for tasting. The picture is still memorable though.
通过啤迷朋友分享或旅游时候发现,今年品尝到不少“大酒”--比如盛名在外的PLINY就有幸喝到两次。通过这次经验也有所启示,喝酒不必执意追求“大酒”。。。


3) Drinking with friends
There have been many beer sharing sessions in 2015, which have made it possible for my poor liver to survive all the different beers being ingested. The solidarity of the Singapore craft beer community is amazing, and many of them have contributed a lot to the increased awareness and progress made in terms of craft beer activities. Furthermore, it has become more likely to bump into fellow Singaporean beer geeks overseas! In fact, one of the most memorable experiences of the year was drinking beer, whisky and sake with Daniel Goh and Mengchao (of Brewer’s Craft, Good Beer Company and Smith Street Taps fame) in Tokyo!
今年有很多次分享会,新加坡啤迷之间的融和是令人赞叹的,这也对提升撞意啤酒文化发展起了作用,也因为那样,在海外碰到新加坡啤迷的机会也提高了。。今年最值得回味的一次经验就是在东京和SMITH STREET BAR的两位掌柜分享啤酒,威士忌和日本清酒。。。

4) So many beer events!
Events involving beer really ramped up in 2015, with many beer stalls having tap takeovers, beer club gatherings, beer festivals, parties; in some weeks, there were not only events every other day, but several happening on the SAME day. This was the first year that I had the chance to volunteer with my favourite beer businesses and both occasions were exhausting but also exhilarating fun (also, free t-shirt).
今年新加坡有好多撞意啤酒活动,例如不同的“占领啤酒泵”活动,啤迷聚会,啤酒节等等,有些是相隔一天进行,有些碰上同一天。也因为那样,今年是RAYMOND第一次自愿帮忙啤酒商活动,虽然累也是乐趣满满。。。(还有免费T-SHIRT ;)

5) Sours, and more sours
One style of beer that I had been obsessed with in 2015 was sours – lambics, geuzes, goses, saisons, oude bruins, anything that was spontaneously fermented and as funky as possible. I remember the first sour beer I had was from Stillwater Artisanal and it was not a pleasant experience at first. It had reminded me then of animal urine and stale socks! Over time, however, I grew to enjoy the depth of flavours, much like an acquired taste for blue cheese and other pungent fermented products. This obsession encouraged to travel great distances in Osaka, and even to Nagoya which stock such beers that are almost impossible to find elsewhere in Asia. These journeys did not disappoint and the beers I found there were pure treasures.
今年最让人着迷的类别是天然发酵果酸啤酒,RAYMOND之前第一次接触的酸啤酒让他觉得像在和动物小便或臭袜子!!渐渐接受并喜欢上果酸啤酒後,今年到了大阪名古屋找酸啤酒去了。。

That’s about all I have time to say about 2015, it has been a wonderful year of beer adventures and I sure hope 2016 is equal or better!​
今年是很精彩的啤酒探寻之旅,希望来年更好。

2015 MEMORABLE BEER LIST---by ALVIN

年度最有印象啤酒记继续,这次是吉隆坡朋友ALVIN的清单,4年前在本地开了专卖吧,让一路来只有大厂啤酒的本地饮客多了选择。
well--if you have met Alvin before you shall get an idea why he picked this profile pic :)

The list continues with Alvin from KL--started a craft beer bar 4 years ago with his cousins and still working on to get more people to drink better beers locally(where majority drinkers are still very much commercial lagers crowd.....)

Renaissance  - Enlightenment Series Sencha Saison
I love beer with tea infused into it. My first tea infused beer was the Yeastie Boys Gunnamatta Ear Grey IPA. This year Renaissance of New Zealand brewed this Sencha Saison as part of their Enlightenment series  and it was awesome. One of those easy to drink beers and it doesn’t need to be overpowering in flavours and aroma. Everything was just right!
来自纽西兰酿坊的农场风格啤酒,用了日本茶叶调和,让原本就温顺的啤酒口味更突出,是易喝一款。

Maui Brewing – Mana Wheat Beer
A wheat beer which I do not mind drinking all night long! Traditional wheat beers are typically brewed with orange peel but this Hawaiian brewery uses pinapple juice and it give it a very refreshing aftertaste.
夏威夷酿坊的麦味啤酒,不同的是用了黄梨中和,喝起来清新爽口。


Southern Bay Brew Co – Vanilla Oatmeal Stout
This is one delicious beer. They brewed a one-off stout and cramped vanilla and oatmeal into. Which turned out to be a perfect combination of ingredients.
澳洲酿坊,加了大量香草和燕麦的可口黑啤。


2 Brothers – Hazella Imperial American Brown Ale
Brown ales might not be the most sort after style of beer but this was different! Won 2nd at the GABS, Melbourne and the brewer was kind enough the hand us a bottle or TWO! Roast Hazelnuts and Ella hops from Tasmania. I can never say no to Hazelnuts in Brown ales.
这是在澳洲啤酒节得亚军的啤酒,加了烤坚果和澳洲啤酒花的褐色啤酒,是ALVIN不能抗拒的美味。

Mikkeller 1000IBU
The name says it all! A beer with 1000ibu and it really tastes like 1000ibu. A small sip of 100ml will leave a lingering hoppy after taste which lasts for about 5 minutes! But as soon as the hoppy-ness leaves ends, you’d want to take another sip. Not for the faint hoppy hearted drinker
啤酒名称已见端倪,这是印度淡啤类别中苦味之作,一小口就让味蕾充满啤酒花“攻击”,“受不了苦”的饮客肯定需要时间适应。

2015 MEMORABLE BEER LISY----by YUTO


来自日本的YUTO SAN,是酿酒师,也是饮客,工余时间有时会去借用别人酿坊酿制自己啤酒。

Russian River  Supplication 7%
Drinking in super fresh condition.
At that time I realised "It's really few but there're beers we could say perfect.".
来自美国的盛名瓶子,对YUTO来说,这是少数认可为完美酿制的啤酒。
Hyllie Bryggeri Saison with elder flower ??%
What I expecting for beers are "exploring around the world of taste" & connecting me to all of the people who loves beers.
This beer came from all the way from Sweden, hand carried by cool brewer.
Easy to drink and so refresging. Best for dampy hot summer in Japan.
瑞典酿酒师朋友亲手带去东京的瓶子,非常适合炎热天消暑的啤酒。
Monk's Cafe blend no.6 Superior Blend 10%
Blending of Monks Dadelbarley Oakwood Edition & Struise Black Albert.
What I want to try next year is blending my beer with some other drinks & age it.
Anyway, I've heard about such beer blending (not Gueze) in America BUT SWEDEN ALREADY DID.
来自瑞典的“混合啤酒”--把两家不同酿坊成品混合的BLEND,果酸啤酒之外比较少见的做法。

A blend of Brewski Mango feber DIPA 8% & Ananas feber APA 5%
Blending mango DIPA & pineapple APA. Why not? Just tropic feberable like guys of Brewski.

Mikkeller sur munk sour quad 9.99%
One of my best beer from Mikkeller.
I felt this is truly connected traditions & modern.
It was lucky I had this two times in my life.
YUTO觉得是MIKKELLER最好的酿品,融汇了传统和现代酿法。有幸喝了两次。
SADROBOT Agrajag cherry sour ale 6.4%
A good sweet sour for the evening after brewing with SADROBOT.
桶陈酸樱桃啤酒,酸甜适中。
OSAHRE ÖL / Kapusta brewing KAJITSU-SHU  Sake inspired sour brett saison with Yuzu 9.8%
Yes, as you guess from style of this beer, this is craziest beer I had in 2015.
Taste like full of sake, very dried up lambic & yuzu came after...
Me & Christian Kapusta wondered we can call it a beer.
So we call this KAJITSU-SHU (a liquar of fruits).
加入日本柚,利用日本清酒酵母酿制的农场风格啤酒,是YUTO觉得最疯狂的啤酒,好像在喝日本清酒的同时又是干爽果酸啤酒。
BRASSERIE ELXKIR IPA 7%
From Dijon, France. Very first beer from new brewery. Accidently I could have it but this is well balanced. Felt craft is raising in everywhere.
来自法国一家小酿坊的啤酒,非常均衡。
Põhjala / Boneyard Baltic Notorious IPA3 12%
My next interests are beers of Estonia&Lithuania.
This was my first Estonian beer (though a collaborated beer).
This beer made me more into Estnia&Lithuania.
来自爱沙尼亚的啤酒, 这第一次发现让YUTO对爱沙尼亚和立陶宛的啤酒更有好奇心。
Cantillon Blåbær Lambik 5%
Though I still keep the bottles not opened.
These are special for me.
I'm gonna try to get 2016& more...

比利时盛名特酿蓝莓果酸啤酒,目前还是收集阶段。
ALL IN BREWING your lips tate like yuzu & sudachi 4%
A Berliner weisse with Japanese fruit yuzu&sudachi.
A gift from the guy of brewery. I was shocked when I checked this beer on some websites.
Everyone writes “Aroma is grapefruit” “Orange” blablabla...
Do you guys really understand yuzu or sedachi?
This is it.
用日本柚和香酸橘子酿造的德国风格酸啤酒, 是酿坊朋友送的瓶子。
让YUTO感到不解的是,网上评酒网站有不少人说口感是“葡萄”“香橙”等等。。
“人们到底知不知道什么是日本柚子或香酸橘子?”:)
LAZY KITTY brewing Berliner weisse with raspberry & pomegranate
A guy of LAZY KITTY , Henrik & me met once a month this year... And he can speak Japanese so well. Is he really living in Malmö?
Okay, anyway, this beer is amazing.


And, like almost of this list, beers from friends means special&memorable for me.
来自北欧, 用莓子和石榴酿造的德国风格酸啤酒, 对YUTO来说,来自朋友的酿品就是记忆鲜明的啤酒。
